World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be capable of causing. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.

On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its level. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory says that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats really are. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This isn't the only thing that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.

Another way to change the stats of an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can provide the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The  item upgrade  overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
