Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are improved through upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides an increase in the linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle six items at once to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Additionally there are many items that can be reforged, which could boost their stats even more.
There are items that can be upgraded throughout the game. They are available throughout all over the world and are rewards for missions. Players can also make them. The main way to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components, which are items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots that can be upgraded, and many require a certain amount of upgrade. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer an overall bonus.
There are many types of upgrade components in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be put in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools and provide various benefits, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting materials.
Choose the item from your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen. It will show the expected statistics after the upgrade. If you do not have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.
The amount of upgrade components required for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increases. However you can cut down on this cost by purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded with an upgrade to a prefix like an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades change the name of the item and add an adjective, for example 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also improve the likelihood of remembering the message by triggering an experience of familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is shown on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is not the actual amount by which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount it can increase a stat. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are admiring.
Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can take out a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.

A glyph added to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to give it a bonus. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at one time. This is useful for players who take many hits from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens permit players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment, and they can be obtained in a variety of ways, including in mistery boxes, as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, therefore higher-level items are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls are based on a % chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If item upgrader rolls lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
A reroll is a good option to upgrade an item, however, players must be aware that it could lower the overall ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls used in order to increase it to its final ilvl. This effect of lowering is most effective with Diadems and ring items, which have no other options for raising ilvls.
Some players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It's better to let people pay for it with cash or food items that allows them to make changes to their builds without having to spend too much time. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning include an ability to change races in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade for an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This boosts the value of an upgrade for the stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which can increase the healing or damage for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are occasions where a higher or more special roll may occur. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a special item type, then it's likely to gaining a higher level.
Upgrading items can be costly, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to legendary track. The price will depend on the item's iLevel base and the number of upgrade levels it has. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the highest level of its upgrade track and unlock a bonus effect. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.
Based on the item's base level and its upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For instance, an item that is upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
